Alternative School
By: Mr. Lile After the New Year, our class sizes doubled to allow for some new faces in the hallways. We welcome the new students and their families to continue to work toward their goals. Along with more students in "The House" it has been a productive year for community service. Many students helped out by ringing bells at area businesses for The Salvation Army, as well as continuing to unload and prepare boxes for the food pantry at the Prairie Chapel Methodist Church. As we enjoy the beginning of spring the students are looking forward to more projects outside. Each quarter the students who have reached their goals for attendance, grades, and community service are allowed to attend a reward trip. Emails: glile@hermsandf.com Evening Alternative SchoolEvening Alternative School is for adults age 16 and older. This is a diploma-based program. Students earn the required credits to complete their high school education and receive a diploma. Child care is provided along with an evening meal. We also provide GED classes as an option for the evening alternative school students!!! Latest News By: Mr. Yates Currently we have successfully exited several new students who hopefully be attending graduation services in May. It makes no difference which school district the prospective student resides in , and there is no cost to the student whatever. If anyone knows of an adult who is sixteen years or older, and who is interested in earning a high school diploma, please tell that person about our program. We are open Tuesday through Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00p.m. Email: dyates@hermsandf.com Transportation By: Mr Aubuchon Once again this year, the transportation department is being kept busy. We currently have ten regular bus routes, a 5 o’clock route (which is averaging 15-20 students daily) baseball, softball, golf, cross country, softball, and junior high basketball, FFA, FBLA, and FCCLA as well as numerous field trips. The department is averaging ten different vehicles being used per day so far this year. We have also added Penny Swearingin and Judy Hill as new drivers to help out with the preschool route and the handicapped bus route. The new bus barn is a great and useful addition to our department, making it incredibly handy to have everything once again on the same lot. Preparation for bus inspections a lot easier this year Email: raubuchon@hermsandf.com
Maintenance By Charles Ross Keeping the school safe and clean is main priority. This winter we've accomplished a lot of projects that make the school a better place. The school has purchased a Man-lift so that we are able to change the light bulbs, ceiling tiles, and other jobs without renting a scaffold. It is a big help and time saver for the maintenance and custodial work of the school. We have also partitioned off part of the new bus barn and made a bathroom, storage, and an office area for the building. We have installed windows in the doors to the new coach's offices. We helped complete the ongoing projects in the new elementary library and computer room. Everyone pitched in and cleaned snow and ice off the sidewalks and roads. The snow blower worked great and saved a lot of time. We look forward to spring and continuing projects around the school |
